I don’t normally comment on these kinds of stories, but I keep hearing people saying Anthony Weiner will have to resign, and that’s just not the case. Weiner represents a very liberal Democratic district. Weiner is hilarious. Democrats love him. The media hype will burn out in about 2 weeks. I’ll be sick of reading about it, you’ll be sick of reading about it. Weiner will get a poor quality primary challenge next year, at which point the issue will seem tired, and Weiner will be reelected easily. And that’s it. What, are the Republicans going to put up a challenger? There’s no way that district would ever elect a Republican, especially when Barack Obama is at the top of the ticket. Weiner just needs to stop talking to the press for a little while, wait until Weiner-fatigue sets in, and he’ll survive.

Uh, Pelosi is calling on him to resign. So, I wouldn't say Dem's "love him." That is inaccurate.
This isn't a "liberal" vs. "conservative" issue. This is about power crazed politicians thinking they can get away with anything. Weiner spent the first part of this scandal LYING. His tweets, while in seriously bad taste, are not really the problem. The problem is he is a LIAR. And while he "came clean" (hey that's funny)on the matter, how does a voter trust that he told the WHOLE truth? We just can't trust anything he says, ever. He has destroyed his credibility, and he has no one to blame but himself. You sure this is the type of guy you want to defend? Maybe he could get a 2nd career in stand-up started, but he has no buisness representing anyone.
Pelosi called for an investigation, not a resignation. There's no reason to believe that this reflects in any way on whether Weiner has the correct views on public policy issues. I believe he does. When I said "Democrats love him" I meant Democratic voters. Sorry, but he's going to be reelected easily.
