This is why anybody who supports extending the Bush tax cuts shouldn’t be allowed to use the words “debt” or “deficit” in a political context ever again.

The reason outgoing Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan’s endorsement of Willie Reynolds as his successor is a pretty big deal is that until now he’s conspicuously avoided endorsing anyone. He’s been pretty open about being a Reynolds partisan privately, and most people paying attention to Bethlehem politics already know who he supports, but there seemed to [...]

I think Bob Donchez’s goal of increasing homeownership in Bethlehem is actually a really bad idea that will lead to reduced economic development and a less flexible labor market. What Bethlehem actually needs to do is increase its stock of quality rental housing in and around the downtown business districts. It’s not a surprise to hear that Donchez’s [...]

Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Democrats who just can’t lose are going to spend $650 million on transit – over half of the revenue they’ll collect from the gas tax increase. This is how it should be: After the governor signed the bill, his office released a list of “first round” projects that will get [...]

The point of political blogging is not that you’ll directly reach so many voters that you’ll shape opinions about elections. The point is that for every couple dozen low-information voters, there’s a *political friend* who people ask who to vote for the week before an election. The point of blogging is to shape the opinions [...]

Letting hardworking Americans keep some of their $$ is considered a government expense….
Please please please open your bar so you can see what it's like earning your money instead of nursing off George Soros's empire. Then let's see how you feel.
Tax cuts are not debt. They may lead to more debt if spending is not reduced. Debt is when you owe something to somebody. The government taking less money from people is not them owing anything.
Tax cuts are liabilities meaning they cost the government money. Period. Let's keep giving millionaires more and more money and hope that we can subsist off the crumbs they spill on the ground and neglect to pick up.
Here's what's happening Anon 604pm – there is not enough income in the millionaire bracket to pay for government spending. Even liberal writers know that. Obama is going to have to hit the class – hard – to pay for all of this.
Also, you may want to start reading the articles instead of the headlines and PLE talking points. The 'millionaire taxes' that keep getting lobbed around hit a whole lot more than millionaires already.
And you completely missed the point – Jon, like all good Socialists, looks at all income as if it belongs to the Government, and it's through their good actions that we're able to keep any of it. That's a crock.
"It was inspiring to see an experienced and strong leader like Netanyahu wipe the floor with the ridiculous clown that likes to pretend.
It is reported that Netanyahu gave Obama some history lesson in private and tutuored him a bit on the historic suffering of the Jewish people before he worked him over more gently for the Israeli people back home.
Obama didn't seem to like it but he needs to learn that allies expect loyalty and respect, not the arrogant attitude of superiority Obama uses to desperately try to convince folks that he actually knows best.
Netanyahu succeeded remarkably is showing what a pathetic leader Obama is and it is pretty that the world community doesn't take him very seriously.
Thank goodness somebody finally put the Nobel Peace Prize winner in his place and probably told him where he could stick the trophy he took home after being president for about two minutes."

Let's start with some reality and put all the stuff, wars, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security up front and on the books. Let's also keep in mind that our current president has advanced the wars in Afghanistan and a new war in Libya. In addition he is slapping nations in the Middle East that could become engagements in areas where we would lose. Let's do what our Founders wanted and that is grow strong to the point where we can select our friends and work with those who want to follow our example though we are in a bit of a mess. As to taking more money from the rich,, note that when Time and Newsweek were still decent magazines they would dispute your wish because they pointed out, just as we do today, that if you tax the rich 100% you will still not have enough money to pay off the debt. So now you have all their money and I would ask, where is the capital to open business and create jobs?
Anon 10:32,
"where is the capital…?"
All in possession of benevolent Big Government and holier-than-thou Progressive Liberal Bureaucrats like Jonny-boy here, where it certainly all belongs.
Please pay closer attention and do a better job of being properly indoctrinated.
Thank you.

Comrade Anon 6:04,
Love your commitment and spirit for the cause.
Need to work on the dramatic effect aspect for more effective Class Warfare, however.
References to starving children are always most welcome.
Promoting Pawlowski's Pucksters at the Palace of Sport will make you look like a total fool and complete hypocrite, so try to avoid that…
