Economic conservatism has never been popular in the United States, and the right wing electoral coalition has always been most successful using social issues as a Trojan Horse for the really nasty Victorian economic agenda. Now that the Paul Ryan budget has clarified what these people are actually for, it’s no surprise the public is turning on them.

Jon, you're absolutely right, the Tea Party is fringe. Just like the Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Waxman group is fringe as well.
Neither group represents the vast majority of Americans.
I gues most Americans support wealth transfer, general eroding of constitutional rights, and ever expanding governmental meddling in the details of thier life.
Anon 803, the erosion of rights is coming from the Progressive Liberal Elites at jsut as rapid a rate as the Extreme Right.
